Vet reports dogs suffering from contagious cough after flood
Following the flooding, many pet owners are noticing their dogs aren't feeling very good. Veterinarians across the Lowcountry are reporting that dogs are catching a contagious cough.
"It's contagious enough that I'm willing to say that walking your dog around the neighborhood can expose your dog," said Dr. Brooke Hardymon, Bees Ferry Veterinarian Hospital.
Dr. Hardymon says the most common symptom of this upper respiratory infection is a hacking, harsh cough.
Dr. Hardymon says it can take anywhere between two to 14 days for symptoms to show up after a dog has been exposed.
The severity of the infection depend on how healthy the dog is and which organisms they were exposed to, according to Dr. Hardymon.
To treat the cough, many vets are prescribing a cough suppressant and antibiotic to kill the bacteria.
Dr. Hardymon says if the cough is left untreated, it can be dangerous.
"In dogs, especially older or young dogs, or dogs who are are exposed to the more nasty critters that caused this virus, they can develop life threatening pneumonia," said Dr. Hardymon.
This nasty cough isn't the only thing wreaking havoc on mans best friend, after the flood.
"We've also been seeing a lot of GI problems, so stomachs upset, some of these nasty little critters that live in stagnant water that these dogs, and even cats, are exposed to," said Dr. Hardymon.
The symptoms for this are diarrhea, loss of appetite and sometimes even vomiting.
"I think there's a lot of things we need to be made aware of with the flood waters and how they relate to our pets," said Dr. Hardymon.
Dr. Hardymon says dog owners need to continue to keep their pets of the flood water, because it's still contaminated.
Now that the water has gone down in some areas, doesn't been the germs are gone too.
"I think as far as toys or other items that have been heavily exposed to these flood water, for me, I would just get rid of them," said Dr. Hardymon.
If you suspect your dog is suffering from this cough or a stomach bug - it's best to take your pet to the vet.

Daily Blog September 29,2015
Hello And Welcome to my blog for Tuesday September 29, 2015 and I was going to do a blog yesterday but I just got bummed out. Today I am doing some stuff, right now it is 66 degrees outside and raining outside.
We Drove by a new car lot on Chicago Drive on our way to sonic drive-in on Clyde Park Avenue in Wyoming. I Enjoyed a foot long coney with mustard and onions, tater tots and a large sweet tea.
Afterwards we went to Sears inside Rivertown Crossings Mall in Grandville and took back a broken screw driver and replaced it with a brand new craftsmen screw driver, the rode and took the video of me riding the Montgomery Kone Hydruallic Elevator just like elevator enthusiasts do on youtube.
Then I went to speedway on Chicago Drive in Grandville and bought me an issue of the wall street journal that costed me three dollars, along with three 20 ounce bottle of mountain dew for 3.50 and it was on my speedy rewards card that i have in my wallet.
When I went home to put stuff away and afterwards, i went to panera bread on 44th street in grandville to enjoy a cup of black bean soup, barbeque chicken salad and a piece of french baguette bread. unfortunately I did not review any of my meals because i was so hungry.
When We Went Shopping at Bed Bath & Beyond on 3050 Bee Line Road in Holland and I bought a Dorcy Lantern with LED Light for 7.99 and Bought An American Survival Guide Magazine Fall 2015 Edition For 8.99. So Thanks For Watching and well See you next time and Keep Your Stick on The Ice.

The winner has not come forward yet but in a town like New Castle with less than 200 people, you can bet the word traveled fast.
"It's the biggest thing that's happened around here for the longest time and I've been with the store for 17 years and this is the biggest lottery winner we've ever had," said IGA Administrative Assistant Lynne Price.
"It hit Facebook, it's all over Facebook, everybody's posting it," said Paul Medley.

$2M winning lottery ticket sold in Craig County
One person in Craig County is holding a two million dollar lottery ticket.
"Here we are in a very poor county and somebody won," laugh Jennifer Durling.
The winning ticket was sold at the IGA on Market Street in New Castle. It matched the first five numbers, only missing the Powerball. That would usually only win you a $1 Million. But the person paid an extra dollar for the Power Play and that doubled the prize to $2 Million.
"That's something you hear about, it's not something you see happen, especially somebody you know," said Durling.
While the winner has not been announced, a lot of people say they know who it is.
"He said "I won the lotto!" but we thought he was joking because he always jokes and kids around and he showed us the ticket and he said I'm gonna home and hide it now until tomorrow," said Linda Welch.
"It's good for him, he needs it," said Linda Welch, "He helps the community, he fixed on people's cars."
Now, others are trying their luck, hoping it will strike twice.
"I always split it with whoever sold it to me so we're hoping that she wins so I can split it with her," said Durling.
The store that sold the ticket will get a 10 thousand dollar bonus from the Virginia Lottery.
The winner has 180 days from Saturday's drawing date to claim their prize.

West Virginia bank robbery turns deadly
A bank robbery in Bluefield, West Virginia turned deadly Tuesday morning after police and the suspect exchanged gunshots.
Officers say Cedric Maurice Williams, 33, was heavily armed outside of the First Community Bank. They say Williams had an AK-47, a .45 caliber pistol and a .38 caliber revolver. Williams was killed and no officers were hit. CNN affiliate WVVA reports Williams is from Bluefield, West Virginia.
Investigators are now trying to connect the dots, including a bomb threat at another bank. They received a call around 9 a.m. near Raleigh Street at First Century Bank. A Virginia State police bomb squad was dispatched to the area and several buildings were evacuated. The squad detonated a suspicious package the bank.
Mercer County assistant prosecuting attorney John McGinnis says several witnesses and an individual are being questioned.
"Well as far as a second person in the bank, I don't know. I can say that the police are questioning another individual at this time. I don't know whether he is a suspect," McGinnis said.
